Huron Valley Electric (HVE) delivered comprehensive electrical and controls systems for the Hadley Family Recreation & Well-Being Center, a state-of-the-art, LEED Platinum facility designed to enhance campus life through health, wellness, and social connectivity.

The project transformed the former CCRB into a modern, high-performance environment that supports student engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and holistic well-being. The facility integrates shared learning spaces, collaborative lounges, and multipurpose wellness studios, creating an inclusive environment that promotes interaction, innovation, and cross-disciplinary connection.

Beyond recreation, the center emphasizes mental and emotional wellness through thoughtfully designed spaces that reduce stress, build confidence, and support mindfulness. Natural lighting strategies and quiet zones contribute to a balanced, restorative environment for students and the broader university community.

This was not a typical recreation facility. The project required the integration of advanced electrical, lighting, renewable energy, and control systems across a dynamic, multi-use environment designed to operate efficiently while supporting a wide range of activities and occupant needs.

HVE delivered the full electrical scope, supporting both standard and emergency operations while ensuring system reliability, safety, and long-term performance.

Scope included:

  • Complete electrical power distribution systems, including emergency power generation equipment
  • Power cabling, raceways, floor boxes, and grounding systems throughout the facility
  • State-of-the-art lighting systems and advanced lighting controls to support both functionality and occupant experience
  • Emergency egress lighting to maintain life safety during power loss conditions
  • Fully integrated fire detection and alarm notification systems
  • Installation of photovoltaic (solar) panels to support renewable energy generation and reduce environmental impact

In addition to core electrical systems, HVE installed advanced mechanical and environmental controls to support building performance and occupant comfort.

Systems included:

  • Mechanical and temperature controls for air handling units, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and heat exchangers
  • Integration of building systems to maintain optimal indoor environmental conditions
  • Support for aquatics systems, including coordination and installation of specialized control systems

The project required careful coordination across multiple disciplines, ensuring seamless integration between electrical, mechanical, and control systems within a highly interactive and continuously occupied facility.
